The world’s travel and tourism professionals have anointed Saint Lucia the World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination for a record 12th time. The island nation, famed for a temperate climate and even warmer people, is unmatched as a destination for honeymooners and its appeal is only growing as it diversifies its appeal with projects of the sophistication of the Pearl of the Caribbean and the Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club.
In addition to winning World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination, Saint Lucia was also nominated in three other categories:
- World’s Leading Island Destination
- World’s Leading Wedding Destination
- World’s Most Romantic Destination 2020
“This is a wonderful accolade for Saint Lucia and Saint Lucians and recognizing the country for its true excellence as a destination,” said Eden Harrington, Director of the Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club.
“Our club has great belief in Saint Lucia and its future. In time, we hope to be able to add to its international appeal.”
Saint Lucia’s Tourism Minister, the Honourable Dominic Fedee, was also vocal in his praise: “Saint Lucia’s internationally acclaimed status is what we strive for daily in our strategic marketing and promotion efforts,” he said.
“The destination undoubtedly boasts of true passion in all key niches and amongst its hidden gems. It is indeed an honour for Saint Lucia to be named once again as the World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination, a sincere reflection of our culture and the people who propel the industry.”
The World Travel Awards are voted for by travel and tourism professionals worldwide and is recognized as the travel industry’s most prestigious awards program, rewarding leaders in the tourism, airline, hotel, and hospitality sectors.
