a. with a certified veterinary certificate approved by the Club and confirmed by its
veterinarian, as determined by the Club in its absolute discretion, then the Slot
Licensee will be permitted to select a replacement runner from the population of
thoroughbreds based in Saint Lucia;
b. without a veterinary certificate approved by the Club and confirmed by its veterinarian,
as determined by the Club in its absolute discretion, then the Slot Licensee will not be
entitled to a runner in the Race and the Slot Licensee will forfeit the right to any
prizemoney.
34. If Slot Licensee’s horse is scratched after 7.30am on the day of the Race:
a. with a certified veterinary certificate approved by the Club and confirmed by its
veterinarian, as determined by the Club in its absolute discretion, then the Slot
Licensee will not be entitled to a runner in the Race;
b. without a veterinary certificate approved by the Club and confirmed by its selected
veterinarian, as determined by the Club in its absolute discretion, then the Slot
Licensee will not be entitled to a runner in the Race and the Slot Licensee will forfeit
the right to any prizemoney.
35. If the Club receives a veterinary report after the Race Acceptances Date and before 7.30am on the
day of the Race that a particular horse is not, or cannot reasonably be expected to be, fit to compete
in the Race then the Club under the Rules and Regulations of Racing may scratch the horse. Clause
33(a) will then apply as if the horse was scratched with a certified veterinary certificate approved
by Club.
Quarantine and General Matters
36. The Club will make available quarantine facilities to internationally based thoroughbreds in Saint
Lucia. The costs of this quarantine will not be attributed to international entrants of the 2019 Race.
37. The Club reserves the right to pass on quarantine costs to any thoroughbreds that use these
facilities but do not compete in the Race in the nominated year.
38. Quarantine will be policed by the Ministry of Agriculture of Saint Lucia and by the Club. Prior to
travel to Saint Lucia, thoroughbreds from approved countries must undertake Quarantine.
United States*: 14 days
• Pre-export Quarantine USA): 7 days
• Post-export Quarantine (Saint Lucia):
Caricom Countries (Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados) *:
• Horses destined for entry into Saint Lucia must undergo a seven (7) day quarantine period,
either in the country of origin immediately prior to transport, or upon arrival in Saint Lucia.
Animals may also spend part of the quarantine period in both countries. (As per Conditions of
Horses from Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad, Ministry of Agriculture, Saint Lucia)
* Understanding all quarantine requirements and ensuring these requirements are met is the sole
responsibility of the trainer(s) of a nominated thoroughbred.
39. The quarantine timetable will be exclusively determined by the Club in consultation with the Ministry
of Agriculture of Saint Lucia.
